After birth you may notice that one or two puppies or kittens are gasping and are not as content and happy as their siblings – one of the causes of this can be persistent bleeding from the umbilical cord. Even slight bleeding can have this effect.

We have used these a few times on our own puppies over the years as they act quickly and efficiently to stop the naval cord bleeding, especially useful when you have a lot going on and don’t have time to tie off an umbilicus. We remove as soon as we feel cord has stopped bleeding which is usually within the hour as they dry out quickly if put on heat pad – If unsure and you now have time, tie the cord just below clamp then remove.
